Collection: Eels

Freshwater eels are fascinating, snake-like fish known for their elongated bodies and unique life cycle. Characterized by small scales that often appear absent, they possess well-developed jaws and lack pelvic or spine fins. Their dorsal, anal, and caudal fins typically merge seamlessly, forming a continuous fringe around the tail. Typically brown, olive, or olive-yellow in color, their coloration provides effective camouflage against the river or lakebed. These remarkable creatures undergo a remarkable transformation throughout their life cycle, migrating between the ocean and freshwater habitats for different stages of development.  Popular freshwater eel species include: Zigzag eel and Bichir eel.
