The Clown Killifish, also known as the Banded Panchax or Rocket Killifish, is a small, vibrant freshwater fish native to the slow-moving streams and swamps of West Africa, particularly in Liberia and Sierra Leone. 🐠 Appearance:

• Size: Grows up to 1.2–1.4 inches (3–3.5 cm) in length.

• Coloration:

  • Body: Features a pale or golden body with bold black and cream vertical stripes.

  • Fins: The caudal (tail) fin is marked with vibrant red, yellow, and blue stripes, resembling a rocket flame.

  • Sexual Dimorphism: Males are more colorful with longer fins, while females are smaller with duller coloration.

🌿 Tank Requirements:

• Tank Size: Minimum 5–10 gallons for a small group.

• Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 72–79°F (22–26°C)

  • pH: 6.0–7.5

  • Water Hardness: Soft to moderately hard

• Environment:

  • Prefers heavily planted tanks with floating plants to diffuse lighting.

  • Requires a tight-fitting lid due to its jumping tendencies.

  • Low to moderate water flow mimics its natural habitat.

🏡 Behavior & Compatibility:

• Temperament: Peaceful and shy, best kept in species-only or peaceful community tanks.

• Tankmates: Suitable with small, non-aggressive fish like micro rasboras, tetras, and shrimp. Avoid large or aggressive tankmates.

• Social Behavior: Does best in groups of 6 or more, where males display vibrant colors to compete for female attention.

🍤 Diet:

• Carnivorous: Primarily feeds on live and frozen foods, such as baby brine shrimp, daphnia, and micro worms.

• In Captivity: Will accept high-quality micropellets and flakes, but live food enhances color and activity.

• Egg Scatterers: Spawns in fine-leafed plants or spawning mops.

• Egg Development: Eggs hatch in 10–14 days depending on temperature.

• Fry Care: Fry require infusoria or micro worms initially, transitioning to baby brine shrimp as they grow.
