Crypt Wendtii Red (Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Red') is a popular freshwater aquarium plant known for its rich reddish-brown to deep bronze foliage. This rosette plant features long, lance-shaped leaves with a slightly wavy texture, which can vary in color intensity depending on lighting and nutrient levels. Its compact growth makes it an excellent choice for the midground or foreground of aquascapes, where it adds warmth and natural beauty.

Native to Sri Lanka, Crypt Wendtii Red thrives in a wide range of water conditions, with ideal temperatures between 72°F–82°F and a pH of 6.0–7.5. It is a hardy, low-maintenance plant that adapts well to both low and moderate lighting setups. Once established, it grows steadily but slowly, forming dense clusters that can provide excellent shelter for fish and shrimp.

This plant is well-known for its ability to tolerate challenging conditions, making it suitable for beginner and advanced aquarists alike. However, it is sensitive to changes in water parameters, which can cause temporary "crypt melt," where leaves may die back but regrow once the plant acclimates.
