Apistogramma Ruby Clown- Tropical Fish
The Ruby Clown Apistogramma (Apistogramma sp. "Ruby Clown") is a rare and stunning dwarf cichlid known for its vibrant colors and fascinating personality. A sought-after species among Apistogramma enthusiasts, this fish boasts a rich ruby-red body accented with iridescent blue markings and striking black facial patterns, giving it a unique and eye-catching appearance.
Typically growing to around 2.5 to 3 inches, the Ruby Clown Apistogramma thrives in soft, slightly acidic water (pH 5.5–7.0) with a temperature range of 76–82°F. It prefers a well-structured aquarium with driftwood, leaf litter, caves, and dense plant cover, mimicking its natural habitat in the slow-moving streams and tributaries of South America.
Though generally peaceful, this species exhibits mild territorial behavior, especially during breeding. It does well in species-only tanks or with other small, non-aggressive fish in a carefully selected community setup.
A micro-predator by nature, the Ruby Clown Apistogramma thrives on a varied diet of live and frozen foods, including brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms, supplemented with high-quality pellets and flakes.
With its dazzling coloration and engaging behavior, the Ruby Clown Apistogramma is a prized addition for experienced aquarists seeking a vibrant, character-filled cichlid for a well-maintained aquarium.
