Detailed Description

Super Delta Betta (Betta splendens)

Common Name: Super Delta Betta
Scientific Name: Betta splendens
Adult Size: 2.5–3 inches
Origin: Southeast Asia – native to Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam
Temperament: Semi-aggressive; males should be kept alone or with peaceful, non-fin-nipping tankmates
Tank Size: 5 gallons minimum (per Betta)
Water Conditions:

  • Temperature: 76–82°F (24–28°C)

  • pH: 6.5–7.5

  • Hardness: Soft to moderately hard (3–10 dGH)

Description:
The Super Delta Betta is a show-stopping variety of the beloved Betta fish, featuring an expansive tail that opens to nearly 180 degrees—almost like a fan, but just shy of the full Halfmoon shape. With their brilliant colors and graceful movements, Super Delta Bettas bring elegance and personality to any aquarium setup.

These fish are intelligent, responsive, and even trainable! Males are best kept solo or with carefully chosen tankmates, while females may do well in groups under the right conditions.

Fun Facts:

  • Bettas are labyrinth fish, meaning they can breathe air directly from the surface using a special organ.

  • The “Super Delta” name refers to the tail spread—more dramatic than a standard Delta but not quite a Halfmoon.

  • Super Delta Bettas often flare their gill covers and fins in display, especially when they see a mirror or rival.

Diet:
Carnivorous – feed a variety of high-protein foods such as Betta pellets, frozen or live bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia.

Tank Setup Tips:

  • Gentle filtration and low water flow preferred

  • Floating plants and low lighting help mimic their natural habitat

  • Provide hiding spots like Betta caves or soft-leafed plants

Compatibility:
Best kept alone or with small, peaceful tankmates like snails, shrimp, or non-aggressive nano fish. Avoid fin-nippers and other male Bettas.

Add a splash of color and charisma to your tank with a Super Delta Betta—a true living jewel that's as bold in personality as it is in appearance!
