🐠 Appearance:

• Size: Typically grows to about 5–7 inches (12–18 cm) in length, though it can sometimes grow larger in a well-maintained tank.

• Coloration:

  • The body of the Zebra Brown Pleco features dark brown to black coloring with distinct light-colored stripes or bands across its body, creating a striking zebra-like appearance.

  • The pattern is often irregular, with varying widths of stripes, adding to its visual appeal.

  • It has a flattened body with large pectoral fins that help it cling to surfaces, such as rocks, glass, and driftwood.

• Tank Size: A minimum of 30 gallons is recommended for a single Zebra Brown Pleco. Larger tanks are ideal, especially if you plan to keep multiple plecos or other bottom-dwelling species.

• Water Parameters:

  • pH: 6.5–7.5 (slightly acidic to neutral)

  • Water Hardness: Soft to moderately hard

• Environment:

  • Prefers well-oxygenated tanks with plenty of driftwood and hiding spots like caves or rocks. These structures not only offer shelter but also aid in the pleco’s natural behavior of scraping algae off surfaces.

  • A sand or fine gravel substrate is ideal, as it is gentle on the pleco’s underside and mimics its natural riverbed environment.
